About Valerie

I am committed to transdisciplinary collaboration and applied anthropology to understand and advocate for people and the environment.
I believe that interdisciplinary, community engaged, and student centered learning foster the development of new knowledge, skills, and empathy for global citizenship and are fundamental to a liberal arts education.
I teach about issues at the intersection of the environment, culture, and political-economic structures. I use case studies, student driven research projects and local examples to frame global and cross-cultural issues.
